What Remains of the Day – Memories of World War II by Gesche Würfel (United States)
Grappling with time and memory in contemporary Germany through images of places and people, Würfel photographed places evoking the horrors of the Nazi regime and interviewed war witnesses. Like memory, the ambiguous images are overexposed (one second for each year that has passed since WWII) so that only traces of the resulting images are recorded.
